Meet Dr George

Dr Georges El Rassi is an associate professor in orthopedic surgery at St Georges Hospital University Medical Center in Beirut. He started his medical education in lebanon, and after doing his fellowships abroad in Europe and the US, he showed profound interest in sports medicine, arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery, in which he specialized.

He is a polyvalent surgeon with an average of 700 surgeries a year, widely ranging from open surgeries to minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgeries. For the last 12 years he has concentrated mainly on advanced orthopedic joint preserving strategies, joint replacement surgeries of both upper and lower limbs, traumatology and fracture management, shoulder and upper limb surgeries, knee, sports medicine, with a special emphasis on arthroscopic surgeries. He follows the latest techniques focusing on a fast, non-painful recovery with optimal results.

Nowadays being one of the best surgeons in the country with an advanced reputation, he is a reference in arthroscopic surgeries, treating different shoulder pathologies (Rotator cuff, instability..) diverse knee pathologies (cruciate ligamentoplasty, meniscal injury), wrist and ankle scope surgeries. He was chosen to be a consultant for multiple international orthopedic device medical companies.
His close follow up with his patients allows him to achieve optimal post-surgical goals along with an individualized case by case system.

Being an active member and tutor in multiple international orthopaedic society AO Foundation courses, Dr Rassi provides to his patients the latest innovations and up to date techniques giving the optimal medical and surgical outcomes.

He is actively involved in research with over 30 peer reviewed published articles, encouraging his fellow residents to be active in research, stressing on the importance of reading and contributing to the scientific world. He edited many books and chapters.

He highlights the importance of conservative treatment strategies and encompassing all the options before reaching operative management. He is an expert in infiltrations using the latest modes of injection ranging from Lipogen to PRP to hyaluronic acid and to other simpler anti-inflammatory modalities.
